As a PR agency that works with both brands and influencers, there’s one struggle we know that’s shared unanimously by both: finding new and novel spots to shoot social media content is hard.
There’s only so many different angles you can shoot in your apartment before your followers clue on and you have to get outside and start stunting in the streets.
Forever here to help keep your feed fresh, we’ve compiled a list of Auckland’s top spots for an Instagram shoot that will give LA’s Melrose Ave a run for its money.
1. Archie Brothers
Go for the games, stay for the ‘gram. With dodgem cars, bowling and arcade games galore, enjoy an alcoholic freakshake (or two) whilst channelling your best retro 80s neon self.
Best time to go: Anytime from noon till midnight
Top backdrop: In front of the bowling lanes, cocktail in hand, STRIKE flashing on the scoreboard
2. Domain Wintergardens
Inject a touch of English-inspired luxury to your feed with a visit to the Auckland Domain Wintergardens. With two Victorian-style glasshouses that face onto an extensive courtyard and sunken pool, there’s plenty of spots to frame that perfect shot.
Best time to go: Weekdays – beat the crowds
Top backdrop: Between the two marble statues at the end of the pool #highlife
Boasting sparkling lights, lush living walls and designer boutiques aplenty, a shoot at Auckland’s trendiest CBD precinct is sure to bring some glam to your ‘gram.
Best time to go: Sunset – the fairy lights have come on, but it’s not so dark that your pics are grainy
Top backdrop: The Pavilions (out front of Ortolana)
4. Winona Forever
In the ever-changing world of social, the are only a few universal truths that hold constant. Number one? Pics of cute dogs, cats, babies, and—of course—tasty food garner the most engagement.
Drop into Auckland’s most gram-worthy café, Winona Forever, and snap a pic with any of its mouth-watering meals to fast-track your road to Insta’ fame.
Best time to go: Weekdays or weekends off-peak, lest you want to queue out the door!
Top backdrop #foodstagram: The Eton Rifle (cinnamon brioche French toast topped with panna cotta, meringue, vanilla bean mascarpone, poached pear, seasonal fruit, berry compote and organic maple)
Sure, it’s not Manhattan, but the City of Sails’ skyline can be pretty mesmerising too. Show what a #nightowl you are with a shot (ahem – of the photographic kind) at Auckland’s premier waterfront precinct.
Best time to go: Night – Big City Lights baby
Top backdrop: Wynyard Crossing (the draw bridge that connects the Viaduct to Wynyard Quarter)
