PR AGENCY DIARIES: CHEAP EATS AND DEALS IN PONSONBY, KINGSLAND, GREY LYNN AREA

On deadline?  The only solution to get you through is of course food.  If the work cc is not forthcoming, we’ve got the next best thing…a quick recce on the best happy hour, specials and meal deals in the city fringe.

PR people are always in the know, so we’ve trawled social media, talked to influencer friends and done some old school canvassing.

Please note this article is not sponsored (yet).

Coco’s Cantina (376 K Rd)

Please keep it on the low but this beacon of cool does a $13 bowl of pasta on the regular between 4pm and 6pm.  Better still, double down with a Happy Hour Double Happy to get the creative juices flowing with a pudding and tipple for just $25.

Ozone (1/18 Westmoreland St)

We’ve waxed lyrical about the one-stop shop that is Ozone in articles gone, but not many know its epic pizza deal on Sundays.  Two for one on any pizza going from the gourmet range.  You’re welcome.

Countdown (4 Williamson Ave)

Disclaimer, they are a client, but it would be a sin not to spread the word on their $4.75 sandwiches. Head to the little kiosk outside the Williamson Ave store to get a sandwich or panini teeming with shredded chicken, salad, tomato, cheese for under a fiver.

Portland Public House (463 New North Road)

Who can go past a juicy, delicious, yarrrmmmmmyyy burger, and we’ve found one every night for just $6 between 4-7pm at this quirky local. I dare you to say we are not good at our jobs.

Jervois Steak House (70 Jervois Rd)

Look, this isn’t your usual dine and dash, but it would be remiss not to spruik another client winner winner steak dinner (or lunch rather) in the form of Jervois Steak House’s Steak Your Claim from Wed till Fri each and every lunchtime till November. Grab your work wife as this one involves a slab of beef each plus two sides and two vinos for just $85 total.

Do you know somewhere better to add to this list? We are taking submissions and bribes from seasoned eaters or restaurants wanting to join this esteemed company.
