UNDERTOW MEDIA PRESENTS; ROADSHOW FILMS X QUENTIN TARANTINO
Undertow Media came out guns blazing when approached by client Roadshow Films in January 2016.
The brief?
To bring Academy Award® winning writer/director Quentin Tarantino to New Zealand shores in January for the premiere of his most recent film, The Hateful Eight. Accompanied by NZ’s sweetheart, actress Zoe Bell, the two were greeted by over 200 fans and 60 media at the premiere, held at Event Cinemas Broadway. The stars then sat down to watch the film with 600 of our very own arts and entertainment tastemakers, VIPs and media before a night of revelry at Las Vegas nightclub really put NZ on the map for the Hollywood legend.
With guests including Oscar winner Wally Pfister, actors Danielle Cormack and Karl Urban, designer Karen Walker, artist Dick Frizzell, All Black Malakai Fekitoa, musicians David Dallas and Dave Dobbyn among many others, the night was always geared to be memorable…and the resulting press (courted and reported) did not disappoint.
After the busy evening, a full media junket then saw sixteen media outlets have exclusive interviews with Tarantino and Bell, including TV3’s Kate Rodger, Steve Newall for Flicks, Alex Casey from The Spinoff and Matt Heath and Jeremy Wells for the NZ Herald and Hauraki.
Undertow Media managed the day with a strict schedule in mind, (true to our slick and organised nature), ensuring every minute of our media’s time with the stars counted!!
New Zealand’s Doctor of film and arguably biggest film buff was blown away by the opportunity to meet with the star to discuss The Hateful Eight, as well as New Zealand film in general. We can’t get enough of this resulting interview by Doctor Richard Swainson’s (Radio NZ) with Tarantino.
The feeling appeared to be mutual, with Quentin extending his time with the doctor. Says Doctor Richard, “It was a high point in my career that is unlikely to be matched. Thanks for everything yesterday. It worked out perfectly.”
